So I saw this question actually posted in the MAL forums and I found this to be very interesting question so I decided to extend it to here.
For me the smartest/most intelligent anime character has to go to Light in Death Note! Now while it didn’t go favorable for him in the end he was very smart with how he got away with it for so long.
Light was literally able to predict other people’s moves even before they knew what their next move was and he was able to manipulate people to get the exact information that he wanted. I don’t know why but I just found the way that he was able to do that very amazing.
But what about everyone else? What anime character do you find is the smartest/most intelligent. Comment down below and let me know who you think. I can’t wait to read them.

Light also popped into my head when I read the title! I was amazed the whole time I watched that series, like how can you plan something out so far in advance?? Especially when he loses his memory but plans to regain it later, craziness haha 🙂
I know he was just wayyyy to smart and it kept you intrigued from beginning to end to see if he was going to get caught.
Also Light from Death Note. The only one that’s almost as smart as Light is L . I can’t think about any character from other anime that could be compared to them.
Yes I think that L was a little bit smarter than Light since he figured it out.

Though, there are some amazing and cunning characters in the series “Jojo`s Bizzare Adventure’, the lead characters + enemies will amaze you at how intelligent & quick-action-ed, they are.

I also agree, Light is pretty smart. I also want to mention Shikamaru from Naruto. He is quite intelligent, especially when he is in combat.
I’d say Shikamaru as well since he is a master strategist and a great asset to the team once motivated. Also, Izaya from Durarara. He’s always several steps ahead of everyone else and acts so calmly no matter the situation. It’s hard to get a read on this guy. Not to mention he’s a talented informant with various connections throughout the city, so he has dirt on just about everyone.
I agree with both of those! Shikamaru is very smart especially when he was coming up with a plan to avenge Asuma! That was amazing. As for Izaya I also thought he was smart since like you said you can never figure out what he was thinking.
It was amazing! And Izaya is really good at pissing people off, especially Shizuo

Light is incredibly intelligent, I’d also say Akiyama in Liar Game – he’s always thinking ahead, and his plans are so perfect, they prepare for every single one of his opponent’s moves.

Kurisu and Okabe are pretty smart. Lelouch and Kiritsugu are bright characters, too.
