I know that sometimes liking something comes with a few stereotypes. I definitely know there are a lot when it comes to anime. I mean I’ve heard everything from someone thinking your a complete nerd to even you possibly being a pervert.
The worst part is that if you don’t fit these stereotypes people are suddenly shocked. I’ve had hat happen to me a few times and while it can be funny it can also make you wonder why the stereotypes for anime fans come about and why.

I am a fat bespectacled guy so I fit the image of a stereotypical anime fan. I don’t own any body pillows though…. yet.

Lol oh I’m sure that’s not true.
Many assume that orchestra kids are associated with anime, and though while they’re not always wrong (see myself), I’ve known really eherm “popular” and “athletic” people that have been in orchestras.
Yeah to me there is no such thing as a stereotypical anime fan. Anyone can be an anime fan no matter what they look like or are into.
Neither myself or husband fit the stereotype of anime fans. People are generally surprised to find out we watch anime and collect toys and build transformers and cosplay and build weapons, and draw, and, well, you get the point. But that’s what I love about fans: you never know who is one. And even if someone isn’t the biggest anime fan in the world, they can generally find an anime or two that they really appreciate. There’s something to be said for that!
