  • Gunsmith Cats during my early twenties. I picked it up after enjoying the three part OVA. It took me a while mastering how to read right to left.

  • Mine was Pokemon Adventures, I want to say back 3 years ago, I was just getting into anime, but checked it out because, it was Pokemon. I really did not start reading manga till another year and a half later when I read Fairy Tail since the anime ended. Then getting into Akame ga Kill before the anime was announced opened me to check out a lot of other series.

      • It is very different. I will probably do review on the manga, but I will just say this. There was less card dueling than the anime and the losers suffer and punished.

      • Are you talking about Yu-Gi-Oh Millennium World by chance (or something along those lines)? Because if so, hooray! That was my first manga, too. I remember collecting each novel with my brother when we went to Hastings every now and then. I believe $7 a book, such a steal compared to the prices of books now! Ahhh, the memories ~

      • I was talking about the very first Yu-Gi-Oh! Manga. There were seven volumes in total and it continued to duelist and then Millennium World. I got the books from Walden bookstore before they closed down their business.

      • It was the original Tokyopop versions. They released Sailor Moon in American comic book format before compiling them into volumes. So I got into manga long before I knew what manga was.

Ironically, despite the Americanization, Tokyopop’s version is superior to Kodansha USA’s in some aspects.

  • It’s got to be Hana Yori Dango because I already had my eyes on it ever since I found out that “Boys Over Flowers” was based on a manga. And it was a good choice because I never looked back after tha!

  • The first manga I ever read was Kare first love I know you will love it Shay !!! I’ve lost of how many times I have reread this series currently I am trying to get the whole 10 volumes. It’s one of those really good manga’s that tells it all about how real life relationship are at the main couple is so adorable ❤

  • Mine was Fruits Basket. I must have been 18 or so when I read it. I was really annoyed with the anime ending, so I decided to check out the manga. It took a few attempts to get used to reading right to left, though!

  • Naruto can’t remember which one was the first one I remember reading. But I am so over Naruto! So over it…I haven’t watched Shippuden cause I just can’t….

      • Oh yeah! Some of the fillers were good but then some of them were just really boring and lasted wayyyy too long!
