So I’m currently watching the 3rd season of Uta No Prince Sama and it’s amazing but of course it made me think about why many of us or at least some of us like music based anime’s.
I think the reason why I like them is because of well the music. Well a majority of the time at least. The music is generally the central focus of the show so it’s has to be amazing but also many of them have a good beat to them that makes them catchy.
Also another reason why I like them is that many of them like Uta No Prince Sama
and La Corda D’Oro
are reverse harems so it’s nice to see a girl surrounded by a group of guys.
So far I’ve seen 4 different musical based anime’s but the one I really recommend for those that aren’t into the music genre and also for since some may not like the reverse harem and pop songs is Beck Mongolian Chop Squad.
The dub is amazing and the songs are more of a rock feel so it’s definitely more edgy. Plus music is definitely the main focus but there is some romance but it doesn’t overpower the show. Also just for some warning it is on the more mature side due to language but definitely check it out of your interested.

Oh yeah I forgot about k-on! That show was really good.
huh. I actually haven’t seen any musical anime. Dang it I should! Oh well,there’s a first for everything.
You really should! They are a cool genre to watch and sometimes the songs are amazing. I ended up finding out about some cool jpop singers and bands that way.
I know! I’ll probably try to scout them out next time i have enough money and I go to Vintage Stock. (That’s where I got my copy of the first disc of Kaleido Star!)

Definitely give Sakamichi no Apollon a try. Sound Euphonium is a current anime that I hear is also very good 🙂

I love a good musical anime. I’m still sad Full Moon o Sagashite was never finished being released. “Eternal Snow” is one of my favorite songs ever.
Omg that show was amazing but also so sad. I also loved the songs in that show and I actually have them on my iTunes.
I really enjoyed watching La Corda D’Oro too because I love classical music 🙂
I also really like White Album 2, which made me feel all in the mood for winter and Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso which also showcased classical music
Yeah La Corda D’Oro made me want to play the Violin again but the other ones you mentioned I haven’t seen before.
My son loves AKB0048. Sure, it’s ridiculous and a promo tool for AKB48, but it was cute enough and had some very catchy tunes.
I haven’t seen that show but I’ve really been wanting too! It looks really good too!
I like Kids On The Slope. Though music is not the main focus.

Kids On The Slope or Sakamichi no Apollon is about friendship basically set in the 1960’s. The main music focus is jazz so I think that’s kinda cool.
Hmmm I may have to check it out.
