Favorite Go To Anime Genre?

Published March 14, 2015 by Shay Taree

Once again just another strange anime topic that I thought up and that’s what’s you favorite go to anime genre.

So what I mean is I know that everyone has had that moment where they aren’t for sure what to watch next so you may immediately deviate to the anime genre that you like the most.
For me that has to definitely be either comedy,

romance,

or school related anime’s.

I don’t know why but I just like to watch stuff that makes me happy and takes me away from reality even if it is just for a little bit.
But what about you guys? What anime genre do you find yourself gravitating towards most and it can definitely be more than one. So comment down below what that is and of course I will answer back.

  • i like slice of life over combiat type ever since i turned 16, i literally abandon all Shonen stuff for Seinen or Josei or Shoujo already.

      • Definitely ONE PIECE. It’s my #1 favourite. In the shounen/seinen category, I also like HXH, Death Note, Bakuman, and most sports anime. How about you? Any favourites from the shounen/seinen genre?

      • For me when it comes to Shounen I really love Death Note, Yu Yu Hakusho, Bleach, Rurouni Kenshin, and so many others.

      • The mangaka duo who created “Death Note” made “Bakuman”, so you’ll see quite the connections between the 2 series. I hope that you get to watch it one of these days. It’s one of my favourite series. It’s very inspiring, especially if you consider yourself the creative type.

      • I will definitely watch it! I think that may have to be the next anime I watch and review!

  • Good question. I am not sure. I feel like my interests are everywhere. As long as it sounds interesting, I’ll watch it. I generally like reading slice of life manga than watching their anime unless their anime has high quality animation. For example, Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii is such a great read, but it’s anime just didn’t look as good. There was one part where the main female character comes into a ballroom looking gorgeous in her dress. In the anime, she looked like a big blah. On the other hand, Nisekoi is a slice of life anime, but the animation is so cute and bubbly and colorful that I had to watch it.

But, yeah. I basically watch every genre.

  • My usual choice is action either sci fi or fantasy based (Bleach, Cowboy Bebop, Naruto) although recently I have been watching more comedy, slice of life, romance series ie Monthly Girls Nozaki-kun.

  • Action and sci-fi/fantasy is what I tend to follow. I like humor in my shows, but pure comedies tend to be hit and miss with me. Some jokes don’t translate well I guess.

    • Yeah that is true. I’ve watched a few comedies where they get a chuckle out of me but a few of the jokes aren’t pulled off well.

  • I am mostly into Shonen anime. Since I am in college, it’s either Shonen, Seinen, Slice-of-life, or comedy. I am not much into romance anime, but romantic-comedy is an exception, like Nisekoi.

      • Awwww I definitely want to see it though. The manga I will read later since I’m currently reading a manga.

      • Many people in the past when reading the manga complained that it should not be Shonen Jump, but Shojo because of romance. However, the story is a harem where a boy is surrounded by girls and it’s a romantic-comedy, not to mention, the art doesn’t look like Shojo. It’s not our Shonen Jump but look at To Love-Ru for example , it’s a Shonen Jump title with romantic-comedy, and it’s harem.

      • Exactly and to me it shouldn’t matter if it’s a Shōnen Jump title since there are so many genres out there and so many people who like anime that they shouldn’t stick to just one.

      • I agree. I was like that once, always sticking to a certain genre and never trying anything new. Once I opened up, I experienced a new sensation and I can really enjoy anime.

      • Exactly once you open up to different genres it opens you up so many different anime’s that you may not have known about before.

  • My Go To genre isn’t really a genre, but more if it has pretty animation. I don’t often judge covers, but if I’m bored – which one anime of you has the coolest poster!? For a casual day, however, school rom-com or fantasy.

    • That’s actually a good way to decide on which anime to watch because sometimes the animation can throw off the viewers experience.
