Ah My Goddess Review

Published January 25, 2014 by Shay Taree

So this anime actually took me a long time to finally watch and while it’s not my favorite anime it was an okay watch.

Ah My Goddess is about a guy by the name of Keiichi who isn’t exactly what you would call the luckiest guy in the world. He is in the auto club at his college and he seems to always have the worst luck but regardless of that he has a great outlook on everything and it doesn’t hinder his spirit in any way. So while Keiichi is doing chores one day and is about to call his Sempai he instead ends up contacting the goddess helpline where he ends up getting Belldandy and that is where the real story begins.

Ah My Goddess is actually a cute love story because you can see how much Keiichi and Belldandy like each other but at times it did get a little boring. This isn’t to say that there wasn’t any drama because there was but it was usually the run of the mill someone is trying to take Belldandy back to the goddess realm.

But my favorite part of the series though would have to be Belldandy’s sisters who are introduced in the middle of series and they to me are the real stars of the show. They are definitely the comedic relief of the show and what kept me watching to the very end and made me actually decide to watch the sequel.

So overall this series while it wasn’t that greatest when it came to the romance it definitely will keep you laughing so feel free to check out Ah My Goddess!

Ouran High School Host Club Review

Published January 24, 2014 by Shay Taree

I can honestly say that Ouran High School Host Club is one of the few animes that I can watch over and over again and not get tired of it.

Ouran is about a girl named Haruhi who is an honor student on scholarship to the elite school Ouran Academy. Ouran Academy is a school where it seems only the rich and beautiful attend and poor Haruhi comes upon the host club when looking for a quiet place to study. She is unfortunately mistaken for a boy due to her short hair and her wearing boys clothes. Then due to an unfortunate incident she ends up in debt to the host club. From there let the wild and craziness being.

Now it’s not all craziness and laughter when it comes to the host club because as the anime progresses you get more of an insight about each of the hosts and their insecurities that they each struggle with. Plus a dilemma involving one of the hosts causes all the hosts to have a band together to protect each other and to keep then altogether like a family should.

This anime had me laughing from the very beginning and during some points made me even want to shed a few tears. Also before you ask yes I did watch it dubbed but the voice acting in it was awesome and to me the voices matched the characters perfectly.

One draw back to the series though is that is kind of leaves you on a bit of a cliffhanger since it leaves a few questions unanswered. This makes many to believe that there could be a 2nd season but as of now there has been NO inkling of a 2nd season being done. But if after you watch the series and you still want more Ouran then I highly recommend that you read the manga. I suggest that you read it from the very beginning since the anime doesn’t really follow the manga since there are some characters that are in the manga that aren’t in the anime and vice versea. Also there are some characters that play a bigger role in the manga than in the anime. But the manga also does give you a much better ending.

Overall though please enjoy jumping into the world of Ouran High School Host Club where everything is pink and full of the rich and beautiful!

Sailor Moon Review and Reboot

Published January 23, 2014 by Shay Taree

As many people by now know the Sailor Moon anime is getting a definite much needed upgrade. It has plans to be released in July of 2014 after various set backs since it was set to be released in the summer of 2013. This is one series that I have been excited about since the manga started being re-released.

The anime this time from what I’ve been reading isn’t so much a re-release of the same story but is instead going to follow the plot of the manga which means it’s going to be much more adult compared to the version many of us saw as kids.

Now Sailor Moon for me was the first anime series I ever watched and it is still one of my very favorites. But when I re-watched it as an adult I couldn’t help but notice how the same thing seems to happen in every single series. The negaverse sends out a monster onto Earth many people get their energy taken. Sailor Moon tries to help and says her tag line. The other scouts come and get defeated. Tuxedo Mask comes along and helps out Sailor Moon and then Sailor moon defeats the monster with one of her weapons. Well while this worked great when I was kid it got kind of boring for me as an adult.

But that didn’t stop me from falling in love all over again with the sailor scouts, Darien and Serena’s love story, and the deep friendship that all the sailor scouts have for each other.

Overall though I can’t wait until this is released and I can’t wait to see what American Anime corporation gets a hold of this nostalgic anime.
