So it was announced last week that 2 of the biggest companies in anime decided to form a partnership. I think everyone in the anime community collectively lost their minds when this was announced.
The basic premise of this partnership is so that anime fans are able to get more of the anime that they love and also in a timely manner. Several titles from Funimation have started streaming on Crunchyroll and some titles on Crunchyroll are going to be receiving dubs from Funimation. This includes titles like Orange, Kabaneri Of The Iron Fortress, and Mob Psycho 100.
Along with all this also the premium services for Funimation known as Funimation Now is going to go down in price. Now this would make things more affordable for anyone that wants access to dubbed anime for $5.99 a month or $59.99 a year.
Now for those of you that already are subscribed to Funimation All-Access Pass like I am then you don’t have to do anything and your account will automatically switch to Funimation Now and will reflect the new pricing. For those with just sub access though they will stop charging you and you have 60 days of access to Funimation Now Premium.
I can’t wait to see what else is going to happen with this new partnership and if you have any questions check out the faq pages at Funimation
So what do you think of this partnership? Comment down below and let me know what you think!
So there are several different US companies that license anime. But which one is your favorite?
For me my favorites have always been Funimation
or Viz!
Those have always been my go to because they have licensed many of my favorite anime’s such as Dragon Ball Z, Inuyasha, Sailor Moon, Ouran High School Host club and many more!
What about everyone else? What company is your favorite and why? Comment down below and let me know!
As many of you know I have subscriptions to several different streaming sites where there is anime and I want to discuss the pros and cons for all of them.
Crunchyroll:
Pros: Even if you don’t have a subscription you can still watch shows on here but you just have to wait a week after the original air date to watch. I definitely used to use this when I didn’t have the money to have a subscription.
Cons: As someone who is a fan of dubs I just wish they had more anime that was dubbed. They have a few anime’s dubbed on there but definitely not enough.
Funimation:
Pros: Once again even if you don’t have a subscription you can still watch some shows. If you do have a subscription then you have access to every show that Funimation has on the site as well as extras. These extras could be panels at conventions to cast commentary on shows. Plus you also have access to the dubs if it is available.
Cons: I’ve noticed while using the streaming service that there are times where it will just stop working. Maybe this just happens to me but it can suck when your in the middle of watching a show and the services says streaming not available.
So I’m going to put Hulu and Netflix together since they are both very similar with their streaming services.
Hulu & Netflix:
Pros: Both services have more than just anime so you and everyone in your family or friends can enjoy a variety of shows.
Cons: Sometimes the shows don’t have the entire seasons of a show so if you want to watch the 2nd season you have to go hunting for it somewhere else.
Alright now for me my favorite ones to go to are generally Hulu and Funimation. This is because I notice that a lot of the shows I tend to watch Funimation has but also Hulu because of Funimation decides to stop working Hulu usually has the show I’m looking for.
But out of the ones I’ve mentioned which one(s) would you be willing to try or already use. Comment down below with what you think!
So once again it is Wednesday and I have a new anime review for everyone today. The anime that I’m reviewing is actually an anime movie and it’s the movie Wolf Children. Also check out my YouTube video where I review this movie as well:
So here is a synopsis of Wolf Children: “Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki is about a young woman named Hana who falls in love with her mysterious college classmate who is actually a wolf man. The couple produce two children who also possess their father’s lineage; the big sister Yuki, who was born on a snowy day, and the little brother, Ame, who was born on a rainy day.
The wolf man suddenly dies one day, leaving Hana to raise the two wolf children herself and struggle to keep their secret. But when the family is threatened by eviction, child services, and neighbors annoyed by Ame’s constant crying (and often both Wolf Children’s howling, which the landlady mistakes for pets), Hana decides to move out to the secluded country side where her kids can roam free.”
So I can honestly say that I throughly enjoyed this movie since it was interesting to see two siblings with the same lineage go their separate ways or down their own paths. Also it was interesting to see each child’s personality change over the course of the movie.
The oldest child Yuki
starts off as a very rambunctious child that is very confident and brave. But once Yuki starts going to school and noticing that she is different from classmates especially when it comes to her interests she decides to change. This isn’t to say that she isn’t confident anymore but it was interesting to see how Yuki changed how she was to be liked by her classmates.
Now when it comes to Ame
the youngest he started off very different from his sister. He was very shy and timid. He also didn’t like being away from his mother too often and didn’t have a lot of confidence. It was until one day when he tried to kill a bird while as a wolf that it all changed. Ame became more confident and didn’t let when he started going to school let others change him.
Now Yuki and Ame as they started to grow older both started to accept themselves differently and also different part of themselves. Yuki seemed to have favorited her human side more than her wolf side. But Ame favored his wolf side more than his human side. Ame was definitely the child that wanted to learn more about what it takes to be a wolf.
When it comes to their mother Hana
though I definitely have to give her some respect since after losing the love of her life she had to figure out how to raise two children that were so different from others. She had to learn how to do it on her own and figure out along the way of she was doing it correctly.
As for the art style of the movie I actually enjoyed it. It was very similar to Summer Wars and also to the Digimon Movie that came out years before. I know that others didn’t like it a lot but I did since it wasn’t the first time that I saw this art style.
But the anime was actually recommended to me on Twitter by Nyshing (@ThePrimeAbyss). Also if you would like to recommend me anime to watch don’t hesitate to do so.
Anyways overall I give this anime a 10/10. If you’ve seen this anime before did you enjoy it? If you haven’t then will you now see it? I can’t wait to read your comments!
