Rurouni Kenshin Anime Review!!!

Published October 14, 2015 by Shay Taree

Alright so today I’m reviewing the anime Rurouni Kenshin! Omg this show was really good and even though I watched this awhile back I still watch it over and over again.

Oh and I also made a YouTube video of my review as well so check that out here

But anyway here is the synopsis:

“Himura Kenshin is a vagabond with a dark past and sunny disposition. Not a ronin but a rurouni, he was never a samurai, but an assassin of utmost skill in the Meiji restoration, who in the turning point of the war simply walked away. His travels lead him to Tokyo in the 11th year of the Meiji era, where he befriends a female Kendo master, a former thief, a brawler and a doctor all with their own secrets. Together they fight off the enemies surfacing from the dark past that Kenshin cannot escape. ”

This anime overall was a joy to watch and honestly made me want to pick up a samurai sword even though I would probably hurt myself in the process.

Rurouni Kenshin also kind of has a little bit of something for everyone. It has some romance in it and while it’s not blatantly obvious there is always a character that is pointing it out.

The art style is a little older looking since this anime did come out in the late 90’s I believe so it may take some getting used to.

As for the opening and ending songs well I’ll be honest I didn’t enjoy them but hey that’s just me.

So definitely check out Rurouni Kenshin if you haven’t already. If you have seen comment down below and tell me what you thought of it.

Attack On Titan Live Action Movie Review Part 1

Published October 7, 2015 by Shay Taree

So I went and saw the Attack On Titan live action movie and I’m not going to lie I definitely didn’t like it. They definitely changed for me the plot of the show in general, the characters personalities, & also left out a fan favorite character.
Also check out my YouTube video video on the movie as well.
So the one thing that I definitely noticed is that they tried to bring more romance into the show. They definitely wanted to make it seem like there was a romance going on between Mikasa and Eren. It’s like in some ways the Titans was just a sub plot around the romance and tension between Mikasa & Eren.
Also Eren and Mikasa’s personalities were very different then how they were in the anime. Eren in the movie very much tried to act like the hero the entire time and like he was the protector but in reality the one protecting him and trying to watch over him was Mikasa. Eren wanted to act like he was all tough when in reality he wasn’t but everyone knew that he could be.

Mikasa also very much came off in the beginning of the 1st movie like the girl that needed to be protected.

She didn’t appear strong until you saw her in the military.

Now for the character that everyone knows and loves which is Levi. Well he is not in the movie. I’m not going to lie when I found this out I was shocked. Levi may not be my favorite character but even I know that here are many people who love Levi so to me it’s stupid why they wouldn’t include him in the movie.
The romance scenes in the movie also did not come off well. They were very very awkward. The romance scenes to be honest for me took away from the film and didn’t add to the story line in any way.
Overall though I did not enjoy the movie but I do plan to watch Part 2 just to see how the movie ends so look out for a part 2 of this review. Comment down below on whether or not you will see the live action Attack On Titan or if you have seen it let me know what you thought of it.

Date A Live Review

Published September 30, 2015 by Shay Taree

So I finally got a chance to watch Date A Live and I did enjoy it.

Here is my YouTube video of my Date A Live review

but you can keep reading below for my written review!

There were definitely moments when I got bored with the show. But they didn’t out weigh the good. Here is a synopsis of the show:

“Itsuka Shido is a high school boy. On the last day of the spring holidays, an explosion destroys the town and a girl in armor appears in front of him. Shido’s step-sister, Kotori, tells him that the girl is called “Special Disasterous Designated Creature: Spirit”, which causes a timespace quake. Kotori disclosed that she is the commander of the anti-spirit organization Ratatosk and orders him to go out on a date with the spirit girl. Kotori says, “I don’t ask you to beat the spirit. Just let her fall in love with you and save the world.”

At first when I started watching the show I did get pretty confused since I wasn’t for sure where it was going but then once it hit like mid way I got very into it and realized how funny this show was. The hilarious parts of the show were a lot of times from the side characters like Shido’s friend who was quite funny whenever he was around.

Now this is a harem show so if your not one for harems then you may not like this show but it definitely wasn’t bad. I don’t mind harem shows because I find them pretty interesting.

By far though my favorite part of the show was definitely the last few episodes when it got very dramatic just because it fun to see the characters be serious for a nice length of time.

But overall I give this show a 7 out of 10. It was definitely enjoyable and had great humor involved. It also had romance which I of course like and it also had some dramatic moments to give the show some depth. So if you haven’t seen it check it out and if you have let me know what you think of it.

Nana Anime Review!

Published September 7, 2015 by Shay Taree

I know that NANA is an older anime and has been out for a while but I’ve finally gotten a chance to watch it. Yes I know that I am very late but hey at least I have finally watched it.
So anyway on with this review and I completely fell in loved with this show and it had me hooked for the very beginning! I literally watched 4 episodes before I had to go to work and I couldn’t wait until I got home from work so that I could try and finish.
But anyway the premise of the show was pretty much about two girls who of some crazy way have the same name and then end up becoming roommates when they both travel to Tokyo for different reasons. Once they become roommates the story then progresses with each of their ups and downs when it comes to love and just life in general.

I honestly really loved this show and I just had to keep watching each episode to see what was going to happen next. Nana K doesn’t always have everything together and she finds it very easy to fall in love with another guy. Nana O had more of a rough life overall so she is very tough. But overall they make a good pair of friends since their personalities are so different.

Now throughout the show there are so many songs and the soundtrack was just amazing!!!!! Two bands that are prominent throughout the series are Blast which is Nana O’s band and then there is Trapnest who is another band which involves a group characters that are involved with Nana O as well as Nana K later on in the series. But regardless the songs that they sang and performed were amazing so of course they are now on my iTunes.

The only thing that I did not like about this series was the fact that it didn’t finish. The anime itself left off in a good place but it was still very unfinished since there were quite a few questions that weren’t answered. Thankfully thought there is the manga to help you to answer those questions but at this point the manga is also on hiatus. At least it was the last time I checked.
But overall I love the series and I really wish there was a 2nd season! So I give this anime a 9/10. I had to deduct a point due to the ending. But if your looking for anime with awesome music and enough drama to last you a lifetime definitely check out Nana. The dub was actually really good and it’s available on both Netflix and Hulu both dubbed and subbed. So comment down below on what you thought of this anime if you watched it as well as this review.

Death Parade Anime Review!

Published August 28, 2015 by Shay Taree

Wow is one the first words that comes out of my mouth when it comes to my mind when I think about the anime Death Parade. This anime was so good that it didn’t take me that long to finish and it’s pretty short with there only being 12 episodes.
The story centers around Decim

and he is was is known as an arbitrator who pretty much judges souls on whether they go to Heaven and are reincarnated or Hell and go into the void. The only way he is able to weigh their souls is by having them play games which brings out the blackest parts of their souls.

Now when I first started to watch it I thought that each episode was going to involve a new set of players but while this was the case there was also a deeper story involved. Another character that comes into the story is simply known as the Dark Haired Woman

until later on in the series when you learn her name. The story ultimately revolves around her and her backstory which takes you on a whole new roller coaster ride of emotions.

During the series you learn more about the place they are in called Quindecim and learn more about what exactly the job of an arbitraitor is and what that role entails for them. You also know more about a few other characters such as Nona

and also Ginti

another arbitraitor and rival to Decim.

I absolutely loved both the opening and ending of the show mostly because the opening was so upbeat and made the show a little more light hearted but it was overwhelmingly so to the point where you were mislead as to how the show would be.

One thing I definitely want viewers to keep in mind is that this anime can be a bit of tear jerker towards the later part of the series so be prepared. I definitely was prepared for all the feels towards the end but it was definitely worth it.

Overall I gave this series a 10/10! It was so amazing and I totally which there was a 2nd season for this show. Not only that but the feelings it gave me at the end of remembering to live life to fullest is something I won’t ever forget. So comment down below on what you thought of this series if you’ve seen it. Also let me know what you thought of this review! Can’t wait to read your comments.

No Game No Life Anime Review!

Published August 24, 2015 by Shay Taree

Alright so I know it took me a long time but I’ve finally finished this anime and let’s just say that I didn’t enjoy it. Actually I enjoyed some parts of it but overall I was also confused. But here is the synopsis of the show:
“No Game No Life is a surreal comedy that follows Sora and Shiro, shut-in NEET siblings and the online gamer duo behind the legendary username “Kuuhaku.” They view the real world as just another lousy game; however, a strange e-mail challenging them to a chess match changes everything—the brother and sister are plunged into an otherworldly realm where they meet Tet, the God of Games.

The mysterious god welcomes Sora and Shiro to Disboard, a world where all forms of conflict—from petty squabbles to the fate of whole countries—are settled not through war, but by way of high-stake games. This system works thanks to a fundamental rule wherein each party must wager something they deem to be of equal value to the other party’s wager. In this strange land where the very idea of humanity is reduced to child’s play, the indifferent genius gamer duo of Sora and Shiro have finally found a real reason to keep playing games: to unite the sixteen races of Disboard, defeat Tet, and become the gods of this new, gaming-is-everything world.”

So first the overall plot of show had me very confused because at first I thought it was going to be a show similar to Sword Art Online but that was definitely not the case. But the plot had me very confused as far as did the creators want it to be a funny show or a serious show. It was a very funny show but to me at least the serious parts didn’t make much sense. Also the pacing of the show was to me what made it confusing. The only part the wasn’t confusing for me was the beginning and the end. The middle for me was a weird yet hilarious mess.

The next things was the music of the show. Since the opening was very upbeat and got you into the thinking the show was going to have so much action. But overall it was misleading since the show wasn’t really like that. I mean it had its moments but it wasn’t laced with it like I thought it was going to be. Then the ending song was so depressing kind of that it made you think that someone was going to die. The only time that song was actually fitting was going into episode 10 when it was a very emotional episode.
The one this I did really like about the show though was all the character personalities. Sora

was geeky but also very funny and so smart! Then there was Shiro

who was kind of quiet when needed but also very smart and her backstory was also pretty sad. Then there is Steph

who was so funny and also very dumb in some episodes. Overall the host of characters was amazing. Also I know I left out a few but I mostly just wanted to mention those 3.

Overall I gave this show a 4/10. I didn’t really enjoy the plot and a majority of the time I was confused but the characters in the show is really what kept me going. But let me know what you thought of this show if you have seen it or what you thought of this review. So comment down below and I can’t wait to read them!

Also I will also have a YouTube video out this weekend on this very show. So look out for that soon.

Kuroko’s Basketball Season 3 Review!

Published August 12, 2015 by Shay Taree

I finally have finished season 3 of Kuroko’s Basketball and let me just say that it was such an emotional ride! Even though I had already finished the manga it was still really cool to see it all in action.

So the basic plot of this season of Kuroko’s Basketball is that they are competing in the Winter Cup and trying to become the champions but first they have to beat several amazing teams to get there.

One of my favorite parts of this series is being able to finally know more about Akashi and getting the backstory of the Generation Of Miracles and how Kuroko’s came to play the game like he does.

But there was nothing more exciting then seeing several players go into the zone and play at amazing speed with amazing abilities. Although I can’t lie I would have loved to see Kuroko go into the zone.

If you haven’t seen the past 2 seasons of Kuroko’s Basketball then definitely check them out. They are exciting and definitely get riled up seeing all the moves. Plus the guys are kind of hot.

Another reason to see this show is that the music is awesome! I loved the opening and ending theme of this show. So of course I play them non stop on my iTunes.

Overall though I give this show an 8/10. I’m not going to lie at first I got kind of bored with the show at the beginning but towards the end it definitely picked up. So comment down below on what you thought of this show or review!

Dragon Ball Z Resurrection Of F Movie Review!

Published August 5, 2015 by Shay Taree

So just yesterday I went with a group of my friends to the premiere of Dragon Ball Z Resurrection Of F and it was amazing! I actually really enjoyed it and seeing it in a theatre jam packed with other Dragon Ball Z fans just made it that much better.
The basic plot of this movie is the Freeza has been brought back to life and wants revenge on Goku. This was a very clear plot and there was no deviating from that.

The characterization in the movie was amazing considering that a few characters were absent but I actually didn’t miss them and didn’t know they were missing until they were mentioned. Also not only that but when they were it turned into a joke which was really funny. Besides that all the characters were exactly how I remembered them in the show.

Now onto the music….and let’s just say that there was some I like and some I didn’t. I honestly didn’t really like the intro or ending song but the songs during the fight sequences was amazing and really fit the mood. It really had me rockin in my seat and wanting to see what happened next.

The animation of the show was also something I really enjoyed and actually payed attention too. Usually I don’t always pay attention to the art but this time for some reason it really sucked me in. I don’t know if it was because I saw it in a theatre but it was so crisp and amazing. I also didn’t even mind the CG that was put in during the fight scenes. That honestly reminded me of the Dragon Ball Z video games which I loved.

The movie went by super quick and it was really funny with all the one liners and of course the bickering between Vegeta and Goku. Also Beerus and Whis return in this film and are as enjoyable as ever.

Overall I give this film a 9/10! It was amazing and I definitely recommend that every Dragon Ball Z fan should at least check it out! I definitely plan to buy this when it comes out on DVD. So if you’ve seen this movie comment down below on what you thought of it and if you haven’t let me know what you thought of this review! Sailor Moon Crystal Anime Review!

Published July 27, 2015 by Shay Taree

Since I was off work this weekend I decided to finally finish Sailor Moon Crystal especially since it is finally finish airing. But let me just say I was definitely disappointed over how it turned out.

Now I was definitely a fan of the first series since it was the first anime I watch as kid so I’m not saying I didn’t like it because it’s not like the original. Trust me I definitely thought of Sailor Moon Crystal as its own separate show. The biggest problem I had with the show was the plot and the characterization.

For me I felt like Sailor Moon a Crystal’s plot was just wayyyyy too serious and way to focused on Usagi and Mamoru’s relationship.

While watching Sailor Moon Crystal there were just way to many moments were Usagi was crying or they were constantly fighting someone or trying to figure something out. There were never any moments were they were having fun. This was one moment where I honestly missed filler episodes in a show. I mean I also read the manga and Crystal is supposed to follow the manga more closely and even in the manga there were filler chapters and laughter.

Now for characterization I feel Crystal took a huge hit with that and I think it’s because of the focus on Usagi and Mamoru so much. I feel that none of the other Sailor Scouts were properly introduced with their different personalities and background. This for me caused me to know really have an attachment to them and the only characters that I felt attachment too were Usagi and Mamoru. Well at least that was the case for the Dark Kingdom arc.

When it came to the Black Moon arc there was definitely some character development which saved the show just a little bit for me.

That being said the whole show wasn’t completely bad. I definitely enjoyed the Black Moon arc the most. There was a lot more action which was great to see and great character development beyond Usagi and Mamoru. Also the opening for Crystal was just amazing and I couldn’t help watching it every time I watched an episode.

Overall though even with the better arc when it came to the Black Moon it still couldn’t save the show for me. I ended up giving this show a 5/10. It wasn’t completely bad but I definitely didn’t enjoy it like I thought I would. Hopefully the next season is better if they have realized the mistakes that was made with this season.

So comment down below on what you thought of Sailor Moon Crystal if you watched it and also what you thought of this review.
