Battle Royale Movie Review

Published April 13, 2015 by Shay Taree

So like I promise I have a review on the Battle Royale movie. I can honestly say that I liked it. Although there were a few things that I didn’t like.

Like many movies that were based off books there were some stark differences such as characters names, the chronological order of events, and some things being taken out altogether. The one part that I didn’t like about the movie was how there seems to be where the teacher had a crush on Noriko which I just found weird especially since that was in no way hinted in the book. It was a good shocker to the movie but it left me feeling slightly uncomfortable.

That kind of thing actually really bugs me especially when the book is so detailed and brings you in so much.
But anyways, the movie is also subtitles but regardless it was still enjoyable to watch. Also the main character was really noticeable to me because he also played Light Yagami in the live action version of Death Note. That also brings me to the acting in the movie which was good. For this being a group of kids in the movie they honestly handled it well and many of them looked like the characters as well.

I feel like this was a movie that you could definitely see without reading the book but the book would give you a better insight as to what actually happened and how it all happened.
One surprising thing about this movie was that the ending actually made me sad. When the music started and it showed the class picture it made me kind of want to cry to think that all these kids are now dead when they used to be so close.

Now as far as Battle Royale 2 is concerned don’t even watch it. It was such a terrible movie that I actually didn’t finish watching it. I think they had the right idea to the concept but they just didn’t execute it properly. To me it made no sense and I had no idea what was going on.
In all honesty if you haven’t seen the movie definitely watch it because it is a really good movie and if your able to also read the book and decide for yourself which you like better. Also this movie is quite violent so you have been warned!
So let me know what you thought of the Battle Royale movie and this review down below. Plus like always I will answer back to your comments.

Battle Royale Novel Review!

Published April 10, 2015 by Shay Taree

Now I know Battle Royale isn’t exactly an anime or a manga but it is still title that is very recognized among anime fans and those who aren’t. I decided to read the book since I had heard a lot about it and let me tell you that it was amazing.

For those of you who have not read or heard of this book it’s a book that many people believe the Hunger Games is based off of. Battle Royale has the same concept but to me it is pulled off in a much better way and also it is much more violent. Plus I got attached to quite a few of the characters in this book. Here is the synopsis of the book:
“A class of junior high school students is taken to a deserted island where, as part of a ruthless authoritarian program, they are provided arms and forced to kill until only one survivor is left standing.”
This novel was written very well and even though there are a lot characters (the class has 42 students that you have to keep track of) you didn’t get lost with trying to figure out who was who. Plus you got to know a majority of the characters and their backstories which made you even more connected to the characters.
Now this book is violent and times kind of graphic so just a bit of a warning there is you decide to read it. Also I read the novel version of Battle Royale. I know that there is manga version but I decided to read the original novel. But if anyone has read the manga version please let me know how it is.
So getting a hold of this book was kind of a hassle. I went to and searched online a few bookstores but I wasn’t able to find it. But I finally found it on Amazon and bought it through a seller on there and it arrived in good condition and I think I payed 45 dollars for it.
But overall this book was amazing and such an easy read. It was so was so easy to get absorbed into the story and see what happens next. So if your someone that couldn’t get into the Hunger Games try reading Battle Royale. You may like it.
So if you have read Battle Royale let me know. Also yes I did watch the movie as well after I read the book and I also attempted to watch the sequel. I will have a review up about both on Monday. But in the meantime comment down below what you thought of this review or book. I will always comment back!

Good Luck Girl Anime Review

Published April 8, 2015 by Shay Taree

So I was in the mood to watch a funny anime and I was recommended the anime Binbougami Gai also called Good Luck Girl! This anime was definitely what I was looking for in a funny anime.

Here is the synopsis:
“At the expense of the people and things around her, Sakura has absorbed so much “happiness energy” that she has caused an energy imbalance in the world. In order to return balance to the world, the Poverty God, Momiji, sets out to take away Sakura’s ability to absorb this energy. Will Momiji be able to put a stop to Sakura’s absorbing abilities, or will the God succumb to her happiness?”

This show has so many different anime references so try and count how many you can find.

I know that when many people think of a funny anime they are hoping to get at least a few chuckles out of it but actually I was laughing out loud. ALOT!
The main character Ichiko Sakura while at times can be very sweet she can actually be a little devil.

She is constantly causing havoc and can be a bit selfish but there are several times during the series that she becomes self less and worried about others.
Then there is the poverty God Momiji Binboda.

Now she was hilarious and constantly caused a great amount of grief for Ichiko. She was always trying to find a way to get on Ichiko’s nerves or make fun of her. Although during the series there were moments when she seemed to really care about Ichiko and actually gave her some good advice.
Now I did watch this show dubbed and it was dubbed by Funimation but they did a really good job. The voices matched the characters and it was great to watch the action of the show without trying to read the subtitles.
Now there is a little bit of bad language and a few scenes that can be kind of sketchy so if you aren’t one for profanity or fan service then this is not the show for you. But if you don’t mind this kind thing then by all means watch the show and enjoy.
So overall I give this show a 8/10. This show was really funny and the serious parts of the show actually were good when I needed a break from the comedy. Like always comment down below what you thought of this review or show and I will comment back.

Sailor Moon a Crystal Episode 19 Review

Published April 6, 2015 by Shay Taree

So this week we were able to get a new episode of Sailor Moon Crystal and this episode I must say was amazing.

This episode we saw Usagi, Minako, Mamoru, Luna, Artemis, and Chibi-Usa travel forward in time to 30th century Tokyo. Plus we also got to meet the amazing Sailor Pluto.

I really liked this episode mostly because you were able to get more insight as to why Chibi-Usa went back in time to get the Silver Crystal. Plus this episode wasn’t entirely focused on fighting the Black Moon Clan. Even though they did show up during the middle of the episode it was a quick battle which caused some excitement but didn’t over power the episode.

Overall though I give this episode a 7.5/10. I was interested in the episode and loved finally seeing another Sailor Scout. But I’m mostly excited for the next episode that is to come.
But what did everyone else think of the weeks episode. Comment down below and like always I will answer back.

Mamotte Lollipop Anime Review!

Published April 3, 2015 by Shay Taree

Hello everyone!!! I’m currently in the middle of watching an anime but I didn’t want to leave you guys hanging with out an anime review. So I decided to post a review on the anime Mamotte Lollipop also called Save Me Lollipop.

Mamotte Lolipop is an adorable show that had me laughing from beginning to end and it also had quite a few sweet moments between the characters as well. Oh and don’t forget that it also had some drama.

Here is the synopsis:
Nina, thinking it was a lolly, swallows an object called “Crystal Pearl”. But the candy turns out to be a test for the magicians. To retrieve the crystal, a special medicine has to be made so now Zero and Ichii, the magicians, have to protect her from others while waiting for the medicine to be completed.”

The anime was dubbed by Funimation and I watched the dub and found it to be done pretty well. You can find it on Funimation’s website for streaming as well as I’m sure on Hulu. So check it out.

I also read the manga under the same name as well as the sequel and both were done well and the anime followed the manga very well.

Overall I give this anime a 9/10 due to how cute and funny it was and also the sweet moments that made me go awwww or made my mouth drop open.

So thanks for reading this review and let me know what you think. Like always comment down below and I will answer back.

Akame Ga Kill Full Review

Published March 27, 2015 by Shay Taree

So I finally after more than a week have finished Akame Ga Kill and omg this show had me going until the very end. There is so much death and killing in this show that I definitely need to watch something happy next.

Many of you were right that I shouldn’t get attached to any of the characters and I had to keep repeating that to myself so that I didn’t. Unfortunately I did get quite attached to a few of the characters. Sorry but I couldn’t help it.
But the action in the show was awesome and while then action was literally everything I did really love the sweet and funny moments in the show. Including this sweet moment between Mine and Tatsumi.

The two fights that I loved the most was the fight between Akame and Kurome

and also the fight between Akame and Esdeath. Both fights were amazing and made me wish that I could fight like that.

The ending of the show kind of strange to me but it did complete the series rather well. But I think I may have to read the manga of the series to see if anything happens next.
Overall I give this series a 9/10. The action was awesome and the music definitely fit the series well. This show would keep anyone interested and watching from beginning to end.
But let me know what you thought of the show and this review. Comment down below and like always I will answer back.

Sailor Moon Crystal Episode 18 Review

Published March 23, 2015 by Shay Taree

So I just finished watching the newest episode of Sailor Moon Crystal and I actually enjoyed the episode.

It started off with kind of a quick recap with what happened during the last episode with Sailor Jupiter now being kidnapped. Also then Venus decides that once and for all they have to figure out if Chibi-Usa is friend or foe. Although they find out in the most unusual way which was by using one of Petz Malefic Black Crystal earrings. Chibi-Usa became scared as soon as she saw it in Mamoru’s hand.
In this episode we are also introduced to Calaveras who is the medium of the Spectre Sister. She uses her channeling powers to lure out the Sailor Scouts and is triumphant when Minako does appear.

Also Chibi-Usa takes Usagi’s brooch and that’s causes a whole bunch of havoc especially when they are confronted by Rubeus.

The best thing though had to be when Mamoru uses a new power that he awakens. I was so happy to finally see him using something besides those roses.

But overall I enjoyed this episode and can’t wait to see Sailor Pluto in the next episode.

I give this weeks episode a 7/10. It was still very run of the mill but it did answer a few questions that arose in the last episode. But what did you all think of this weeks episode? Comment down below and like always I will answer back.

Akame Ga Kill First Impressions

Published March 12, 2015 by Shay Taree

So I’m half way through Akame Ga Kill and this show is ridiculous and has already taken me through a range of emotions. So please no spoilers. I’ve been sad, upset, mad, laughed, almost cried, and of course been disgusted at the violence. But here is the synopsis of the show:

In a fantasy world, fighter Tatsumi sets out for the Capitol to earn money for his starving village, and finds a world of unimaginable corruption, all spreading from the depraved Prime Minister who controls the child Emperor’s ear. After nearly becoming a victim of this corruption himself, Tatsumi is recruited by Night Raid, a group of assassins dedicated to eliminating the corruption plaguing the Capitol by mercilessly killing those responsible.

Now the violence in the show definitely doesn’t bother me but its so crazy how crazy the people in this show is. Literally every episode is filled with people with different weapons and abilities but that’s what makes it interesting.

Also I’ve realized why when I decided to watch this show quite a few people told me not to get attached to any of the characters but I did. I know I shouldn’t have but I couldn’t help it and I definitely have a favorite character. Of course it’s Akame

because she is sooooo cool! I love her Imperial Arms but once again I’m only halfway through the series so we will see what happens.
Surprisingly I also really like Tatsumi.

Even though he does kind of act like the typical hero in a few actions shows I’ve watched. He can be used for comedic effect in some scenes, he can be fierce in battle, and he can be sensitive during those hard moments. But overall I think I like him because he had all these elements and he also reminds of Ichigo from Bleach. Let me know if anyone that has seen the show thinks this too.
The humor in this show is awesome! I’ve actually really laughed out loud during a few moments in this show and most have to do with either Tatsumi or Mine. They are just amazing when it comes to comedic relief.

But so far I’m really liking this show and I can’t wait to see what happens next. So I’ll give it so far an 8/10. I’ll put out a complete review once I finish this show so look out for that later.  So comment down below what you thought of this first impression of Akame Ga Kill. Also like always if you comment I will always comment back.

AAA Manga Review

Published March 11, 2015 by Shay Taree

Alright so I just finished reading the manga AAA by Fukushima Haruka. It was actually a really good manga and from the moment I started reading it I couldn’t stop. But here is the synopsis:

Ogata Aoi is in her 2nd year of middle school and is the president of the student council. The middle school she attends is one of the best in the country and is called “AAA”. Aoi goes there to meet her first love, but after a surprising meeting, she’s finding out that her first love is a gang leader in the neighbor school, called “CCC” (lowest level). Maybe it’s only a coincidence that that gang leader and her first love have the same name since they look completely different from each other, but now, Aoi wants to find more about this person….

This is definitely a shoujo manga (my favorite genre actually) but it actually reminded me a lot about Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. I’m not going to say to much regarding that because it may give some things away. Also AAA definitely had a twist in it that I didn’t see coming.

It had a lot of sweet moments that definitely made me swoon

as well as a few moments that had my heart beating fast because of what was going on.

It’s a quick read since it’s only 15 chapters long but it was definitely a good switch from the manga that I’ve been reading.

So if your looking for a short by good shoujo manga definitely check out AAA because it will have you enraptured from beginning to end. So I give AAA a 9/10 even though the plot could be kind of predictable at times but still it was just to sweet to not enjoy. Also I would love to see this made into an anime one day!

So let me know what you thought of this review and also let me know what manga’s you are reading. So comment down below and like always I will answer back!
