I Hate Everyone But You Book Review!

Published January 30, 2018 by Shay Taree

I recently finished another book and this time it was written by two ladies that previously worked for buzzfeed and now have their own YouTube channel. These lovely young ladies are Gaby Dunn and Allison Raskin.

I had heard about their book through other booktubers so on my next trip to Barnes & noble I decided to buy it and give it a shot. Before reading the book though it had been suggested to check out their YouTube channel first so that you could understand their humor which obviously will help you understand the humor in the book.

After spending almost an entire day watching their various skits on their channel I finally decided to start reading their book and I was pleasantly surprised.

The book is written in the format of emails and text messages between two friends named Ava and Gen. It takes place during their first semester of their first year of college and how they are handling being apart from each other. It also shows the trials and tribulations that they each go through regarding their individual college experiences.

The character Gen definitely has the personality of Gaby Dunn and Ava is definitely Allison. The book had me hooked from the very beginning and I couldn’t wait to see what happened not only in each of the individuals lives but also regarding their relationship with each other.

The book writing style was very reminiscent of another series I read before which was titled TTYL so it was very easy for me to get used to get used to the writing style. The only downside regarding this though is that you don’t feel as attached to the characters since you don’t really know their backstory.

But overall it was definitely a quick and easy read. So if your looking for something that you can easily pick up and read but will also have you hooked I recommend reading this book. Also please be warned that some of the material in the book is on the mature side since there are discussions of substance use and also of sexuality. So if that kind of talk makes you feel uneasy or if your parents don’t like you reading books with that kind of material then I suggest not reading this book.

If you have read this book comment down below and let me know what you thought of it. If you haven’t read it then also comment down below and let me know if this is something that you may read. Also feel free to comment below any suggestions of books that I should read.

Six Of Crows & Crooked Kingdom Book Review!

Published January 26, 2018 by Shay Taree

Over the past few weeks I had been hearing about a duology by Leigh Bardugo about 6 thieves who go on a heist and then about the aftermath of that heist. They seemed like some wonderful books so I decided to check them out and let’s just say that I was pleasantly surprised.

When the books start out you meet the main character by the name of Kaz and he puts together a crew of individuals to help him on an almost impossible task to rescue a gentleman from an impossible place. Kaz is a thief and a swindler himself and this task will make him and his crew a lot of money.

In both books you witness how smart and cunning Kaz is and also how each person of his crew serves a unique purpose. You also fall in love with each of the characters and there are a few romances along the way.

This was a wonderful duology that had you immersed in this world of fantasy and adventure from the very beginning and one thing I really loved was that each chapter was told from a different characters point of view that was apart of Kaz’s crew. You also learn about each member of the crews past and how they came to meet Kaz.

This is definitely a set of books that you should check out and read and you won’t be able to put these books down until you finish it.

I purchased my set of books from Barnes and Nobles but you can also purchase an ebook versions of these books also.

If you have read these books comment down below on what you thought of them and if you haven’t let me know if this sounds like something that you made read.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle Review!!

Published December 21, 2017 by Shay Taree

So on December 20th the new Jumanji movie came out starring Dwayne “the rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, and Bobby Cannavale.

Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle is about four high school kids name Spencer, Fridge, Bethany, and Marsha who get sucked into a video named Jumanji and have to beat the game in order to get out. The four kids end up getting sucked into the game through getting put into detention through various different ways that are revealed at the beginning of the film.

One thing in particular though that happens is that its starts off very much like the original where one person gets sucked into the game in 1996 and then goes forward to present time with the four main character kids getting sucked into the game. This was pretty well done since you got to see how the Jumanji board game became a video game.

The movie also did pay homage to the original with the mention of the name Alan Parrish which was the name of the character that Robin Williams played in the original. This was awesome to see since it showed them paying respect for not just the original film but also the actor that played that character.

The movies was hilariously funny and kept me laughing from beginning to end. Also it’s considered a standalone sequel so if you taking someone who hasn’t seen the previous Jumanji they don’t have to worry about not being able to understand what’s going on.

Also if you are taking kids to see this movie it does have a bit of harsh language at times and there is some sexual humor. But I definitely give this movie two thumbs up.

So comment down below if you have seen this movie or if you plan to see this movie! Also let me know what you think of this review!
