Alright so today I’m reviewing the anime Rurouni Kenshin! Omg this show was really good and even though I watched this awhile back I still watch it over and over again.
Oh and I also made a YouTube video of my review as well so check that out here
But anyway here is the synopsis:
“Himura Kenshin is a vagabond with a dark past and sunny disposition. Not a ronin but a rurouni, he was never a samurai, but an assassin of utmost skill in the Meiji restoration, who in the turning point of the war simply walked away. His travels lead him to Tokyo in the 11th year of the Meiji era, where he befriends a female Kendo master, a former thief, a brawler and a doctor all with their own secrets. Together they fight off the enemies surfacing from the dark past that Kenshin cannot escape. ”
This anime overall was a joy to watch and honestly made me want to pick up a samurai sword even though I would probably hurt myself in the process.
Rurouni Kenshin also kind of has a little bit of something for everyone. It has some romance in it and while it’s not blatantly obvious there is always a character that is pointing it out.
The art style is a little older looking since this anime did come out in the late 90’s I believe so it may take some getting used to.
As for the opening and ending songs well I’ll be honest I didn’t enjoy them but hey that’s just me.
So definitely check out Rurouni Kenshin if you haven’t already. If you have seen comment down below and tell me what you thought of it.
~Anime Reviewer Girl!
Man, kenshin was one of my favorite childhood animes, and nice review.
Thanks so much! It was definitely a great anime that I watched during my childhood!
After watching Rurouni Kenshin, I really enjoyed the series. It is one of my top best anime. Nice review you wrote and talked about.
I would NOT recommend watching the New Kyoto Arc OVA. I wrote a review on this one and you are welcome to read it:

Great review and the OVA’s were okay but the ending of them did made me not like Kenshin kind of.
I agree. I feel that the creators of the OVA completely forgot who Kenshin was intended to be.
Yes! I feel like they gave him a completely different personality.
I agree and that is why I prefer the anime more than the OVA.
Same! Plus the art style took some getting used to.
Yeah, I feel that if Kenshin was centered as a Seinen series, maybe I will let it slide.
I wish the Jinchuu arc would be animated…so sad. Dub is great as well, great cast and very faithful. Actually superior in some ways to the Japanese version.
Me too! I also really liked the dub. For some reason the voices just really fit.
One of the first anime I remember watching as a kid. I definitely enjoyed the series. It made me want a katana so bad even though I’d probably cut myself. I did like one of the ending songs “Heart of Sword” by TM Revolution.
I don’t remember the songs to well but they weren’t my favorite but they weren’t bad. But I also really wanted to learn how to use a katana after watching this series.
Yeah I’m pretty sure everyone who watched it wanted a katana afterwards
So true!
Hmm,art work makes me think of Inu Yasha
Lol yes the artwork is very similar.
